Why dialysis rides are planned differently from a single medical ride
Dialysis rides usually recur over months or years on fixed weekdays, often three times a week. Unlike a one-off medical ride, this series needs a fixed pickup rhythm that matches the dialysis centre's treatment schedule, not just a single appointment.
The actual treatment duration can vary from ride to ride, for example due to the individually removed fluid volume or a follow-up circulation check. A time window is therefore more useful for the return ride than a fixed time; report delays to the transport service early.
Prescription and approval
The KBV lists outpatient dialysis among the high-frequency treatments for which a medical ride may be prescribed under the applicable conditions, often as a standing prescription for the whole treatment series rather than for each individual appointment. Whether prior approval is required, and which documents apply, must be clarified with the practice and health insurer in advance. PrimaFahrten cannot promise reimbursement.
