PrimaFahrten plans rides in Berlin for passengers who remain in their own wheelchair during transport. Boarding, wheelchair details, positioning and securing are coordinated for the individual journey. Other mobility needs can be included in a request for our accessible transport service.

What information about the wheelchair is important?

PrimaFahrten can normally transport all wheelchair types. Your own experience as a wheelchair user is particularly valuable for planning: state the type of wheelchair, relevant dimensions and any special features you know about. You can remain seated in the wheelchair during the journey when it is designed for occupied transport and can be safely secured for that individual ride. Precise information is particularly helpful for powered wheelchairs and additional attachments.

From pick-up point to vehicle

1. Pick-up address, floor, elevator and route to the vehicle are described in advance.
2. The planned entry is coordinated based on the wheelchair and the access situation.
3. The wheelchair is positioned and secured for vehicle travel.
4. At the destination, exit and agreed handover point are taken into account.

If stairs cannot be negotiated in the wheelchair, you can also request stair assistance with a carry chair. Any transfer and the transport of the wheelchair must be clarified in advance.

Safety during the journey

PrimaFahrten uses Mercedes Sprinter vehicles with lifting platforms, not ramps. Positioning the wheelchair and securing the passenger are part of preparing the individual journey. Depending on the vehicle, integrated perforated-floor, electric or mechanical holders are used. The restraint points and systems are professionally installed and checked as part of the technical inspection. Equipment is aligned with the requirements of DIN 75078-1 and DIN 75078-2.

The wheelchair is secured to the vehicle floor with a suitable multi-point restraint system, and the person seated in it is secured with a passenger belt. Components from European suppliers including B-Style and AMF-Bruns are used depending on the vehicle; a three-point passenger belt is used where required or requested.

Vehicles mainly use AMF-Bruns linear lifts. Permissible lift capacity depends on the installed model, so particularly heavy or large electric wheelchairs and very long scooters are assessed from their weight and dimensions before the ride.

Accompanying persons and regular wheelchair journeys

Up to seven accompanying people can travel at no additional cost; include the number of people and any baggage in the request. Recurring rides can be requested as a series by providing the weekdays, times and consistent requirements, for example for work, a disability workshop, therapy or medical appointments. Relevant options include disability workshop rides and medical rides.

Collection throughout Berlin

Wheelchair transport can be requested from all Berlin districts. Even for a familiar address, provide the floor, lift and access information again whenever the conditions have changed.
