Provide the complete appointment series
Physiotherapy often involves several appointments. Ride planning requires the practice address, treatment days, start time, expected duration, return ride and requested period. Report changes to the series early.
Mobility before and after the appointment
State whether a wheelchair or walking aid is used and describe access at home and at the practice. A therapy appointment may temporarily affect mobility. The treating healthcare provider, not the transport service, assesses medical fitness and required care.
Weekdays, treatment times, return rides and mobility requirements form the organisational basis.
Who prescribes patient transport?
A prescription for physiotherapy is not automatically a prescription for patient transport. An authorised healthcare practitioner separately assesses the medical necessity of the journey and whether Muster 4 should be issued. The KBV patient-transport information explains the German process.
Prior approval and costs
Rides to outpatient treatment are covered only under specific conditions. Ask the practice and health insurer in advance whether a transport prescription, prior approval and co-payment are required.
